Gemini IX mission highlights:

  • Command Pilot Thomas P. Stafford, Pilot Eugene A. Cernan.
  • Launched June 3, 1966 at 8:39 AM EST.
  • Rendezvoused with Augmented Target Docking Adapter (ATDA) on third revolution, and two other times.
  • Unable to dock with ATDA because shroud failed to separate.
  • Cernan performed one space walk lasting 2 hours 5 minutes.
  • Spacecraft splashed down within one mile of the recovery ship, on June 6, 1966, with flight time of 72 hours, 20 minutes, 50 seconds.
