Apollo 14 mission highlights:

  • Commander Alan B. Shepard, Jr., Command Module Pilot Stuart A. Roosa, and Lunar Module Pilot Edgar D. Mitchell.
  • Launched January 31, 1971 at 4:03 PM EST.
  • Lunar Module Antares landed in the Fra Mauro region of the moon on February 5, 1971.
  • Astronauts Shepard and Mitchell performed 2 extravehicular actvities on the lunar surface, including use of a mobile equipment transporter.
  • While the Lunar Module was on the moon, Astronaut Roosa in the Command Module orbited the moon 34 times conducting experiments.
  • The Apollo 14 Command Module Kitty Hawk splashed down on February 9, 1971, with flight time of 9 days, 40 minutes.
