Part of the Space Shuttle’s exterior thermal protection system.
Back of blanket covered with room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) rubber, used as an adhesive to attach the blanket to the Space Shuttle’s outer surface.
Detailed photo of RTV shows impressions and green finish which had been applied to rivets on the surface of the Space Shuttle.
SCRAP stamps indicate it was not to be used again. Although not so documented, this piece is certainly flown.
