Apollo Control Panel 1
  • Digital model of the Apollo Command Module Panel 1, used by the mission Commander.
  • Illustrations show the front of the panel model, and the back.
  • The original panel was cut from a 2 inch thick piece of 7079-T651 aluminum. Note the extensive machining to reduce weight. Model statistics indicate a weight of 100 pounds without cutouts, and 16 pounds with cutouts.
  • Modeled using SolidWorks, based on dimensioned North American Aviation engineering drawings.
  • Compare with the NASA photo of Panel 1 in Apollo 17 after its 1972 lunar mission.
