Exhibit Details

Over 500 shuttle engineering drawings were referenced to detail this forward half of the flight deck. These are the same drawings used in building the Space Shuttle Endeavour. The panels were machined on a computer controlled milling machine, giving them exactly the same dimensions as the actual panels.

The consoles mount 65 panel overlays with illuminated nomenclature and switch cutouts, just as the actual panels.

The number of controls and displays modeled in the exhibit includes:

  • 466 toggle switches
  • 266 circuit breakers
  • 391 toggle switch guards
  • 96 circuit breaker guards
  • 18 pushbutton guards
  • 43 rotary controls with knobs
  • 31 pushbutton rotary switches
  • 25 gauge assemblies
  • 9 flight display assemblies
  • 3 screen simulations
  • 80 status display or pushbutton assemblies
  • 121 event indicators
  • 2 seats
  • 2 sets of attitude control handles and foot pedals
  • 4 storage compartments
  • 6 finished inner and outer window assemblies
